The species of seal hunted is the Grey seal which is abundant and inhabits the Bothian Bay.
It is hunted from boats in the open water during the hunting season which is traditionally from mid-April to the end of December (subject to minor date changes). The hunting areas are divided into three different management areas with their own quotas. Sea Nature operates in the Bothnian Bay management unit where the quota for 2017 was 633 and therefore should roughly be the same for 2018. For further information of the quotas can be found on www.riista.fi
The maximum group size is 4 persons.
